is a biopharmaceutical company that has developed an entirely new class of drugs, called Allosteramers™.
What are Allosteramers™?
Allosteramers™ are a new class of oral, potent, therapeutic drugs developed using Allostera’s Module X platform technology.
Allosteramers™ are short pieces of the body’s own proteins, called peptides, composed of 8 to 10 D-amino acids, that have exceptional and predictable drug properties such as oral activity, pharmacokinetics (length of time in the blood) and metabolism. Allosteramers™ have an “allosteric mechanism,” that is, they are not competitive with natural inhibitors in the body, and have the potential for better efficacy and better selectivity for their targets than small molecules.
Allosteramers™ have the selectivity of monoclonal antibodies with the oral delivery of small molecules.
On which types of therapies does Allostera focus?
Allostera’s initial focus is in the field of inflammation and autoimmunity.
Among the several Allosteramers™ in its pipeline, Allostera’s lead product, APG2305, is an orally active drug targeting the IL23 receptor, for evaluation in patients with autoimmune diseases. IL23R is one of the most important targets in the autoimmune disease field.
